Our Beloved Home - Planet Earth

We live on such a beautiful planet that is Forever Rejuvenating, Regenerating and Changing

Every day, every moment, my eyes fall upon some part of Nature’s beauty. The miracle of the sun rising and setting every day, without me having to do a thing. The miracle of our seasons, so gracefully surrendering into life’s process. The beauty of green trees gently swaying in the wind; the birds gracefully flying overhead or landing on some delicate branch with their tiny feet; the wispy ever-changing clouds moving through a beautiful blue sky; the incredible palette of colors that Nature paints on Her new canvas every day just for me to feel wonder-filled with awe.

Then why is it that we, the human species, treat Her with such disrespect? After all, we return to Her every minute, of every day, for our sustenance and source of wellbeing. Whether it is our food, water, clothing, shelter, in fact for everything. For everything we produce and create has its origins in the natural world. We draw from Her everything we need; for construction; our buildings, products, furnishings; clothing; packaging, automobiles and transportation, gadgets and it goes on and on.

It is almost like we have been in a deep slumber, totally preoccupied with our busy daily lives, caught up in our plastic, air-conditioned lives, entombed in artificial environments, shut off from the daily wonders and beauty of our natural world–and our hearts have closed down.

I am sure everyone is aware of a massive shift taking place on Planet Earth. It has been growing since 2002 and we are now fully into it. Some call it a paradigm shift. Many of the old ways of doing things are no longer working, our business, financial and political structures are no longer supporting the old “you vs. me”, the “war-ing” mentality and profits above all else. The worn-out gamesmanship of ” I win, you lose” is losing its power. Accepted forms and structures of relating are dissolving; relationship with myself; with others; with our daily lives, with Nature.

I don’t know about you but I am tired of the old games and daily battle. The global community is calling out for reconnection. We are tired of living a life on “remote control”. We have found that “more” is never enough and the emptiness deep within us is never filled by our excessive consumption. We need to build a new foundation and this foundation must be based in Nature. Nature is the key. Nature is calling us back to reconnect with Her, to begin the restoration and healing of the damage we have done to Her (and ourselves) while we have been asleep. This must be an all-out joint effort by everyone on the planet. Change is here. We each can make a tremendous difference with a common purpose – that which sustains all – Nature.

You will have noticed that many of our global and environmental issues are now coming to the forefront. Our oceans are severely depleted; our soils, food and water supply are poisoned with pesticides and insecticides; our forests and species within Her are disappearing at an alarming rate. Indeed, we are even becoming aware of how we have allowed our food supply to be raised and get to our table and the brutal way we have been interacting with our Natural World. We need to start caring again.

I believe that every human being is of good intent, and we just do some shitty things. We can change our behaviors and attitudes and return to the goodness and kindness that exists in us all. Once we reconnect with our fellow partners in life in the Natural World and work with Her, not against Her our entire lives will change. We will be uplifted by a global common purpose. And that purpose is the restoration and preservation of that which supports the complex symbiotic relationships that foster all life, whether that be a bee, a fish, a bird, or a tree. This is true regardless of culture, religion, age or economic status. It is time to restore respect and dignity to all.

My experience has been that once we humans reawaken to the beauty, wonder and awe-inspiring intelligence of our natural world, magic happens. We feel a sense of wholeness again, our hearts open and relax and we begin the process of returning to our natural state – a species within the whole web of life and not separate from it. The relief is profound, the reunion is healing. Aren’t we all exhausted by the sense of being separate and divided?

The time is now for us to let go of our old limiting and worn out perceptions and modes of operandi that no longer work and keeps us chained to a treadmill “go-now-where” pattern and to open up to exploring and adventuring into the new world forming before our very eyes.

Together we will find a new purpose in life, new ways of being in life, new ways of honoring and relating to each other and our essential partners of other species on earth. Together we will create a new dance that is all-inclusive and be grateful for the bounty that Nature shares with us.

Nature’s resources are finite and require a delicate balance to regenerate Herself. To become aware that we do not take more than we need and that She can only supply so much before She retreats is very important. She is in retreat even as I write this and that could be devastating for billions of people and species on the planet.

A New Beginning

A New Beginning

Let us put down our weapons and explore the new frontier together, knowing deep in our hearts that life is truly inter-dependent and no one thing or person is more important than another. Let us offer our thanks to Nature for all she provides and apologize to Her for having forgotten that. Let us begin caring again – for each other and our Natural World that we depend upon for our very survival,
